Wayne's World

Sony Digital

2005

It was the summer of 2005 and I had quit my position as a middle school art teacher to look for something closer to home. With a little encouragement and money from my brother Daren and his bride Yvonne, I loaded my children and camping gear into the wagon and headed for the east coast out of St. Louis. I had a borrowed Sony digital camera. Eyes may roll now, but at the time, it was cutting edge technology floppy discs and all... One of my favorite shops we visited was a quaint little bakery called "Truffles” with a dazzling display of confections. Those wonderful little cupcakes all pretty and everything reminded me of the many desserts painted by the talented contemporary artist Wayne Thiebaud.
