Soliloquy to My Lover

By Pamela Sue Perry  w/m copyright 7/25/11  7/28/11

Second fret capo with musical intro

Verse

Romeo, Romeo.

Wherefore art thou Romeo?

Is your misplaced passion letting me go?

Chorus

A rose is a rose and smells just as sweet.

But eyes closed are blinded to the beauty you seek.

Romeo.

Verse

A wish list of adjectives, parchment and pen.

Must our circumstances adversely spell “the end?”

Chorus

A soliloquy to my lover:

Save your foolish pride.

O, wilt thou leave me so unsatisfied?

Romeo?

Verse

If the sun were the moon and had no other light,

would the birds still sing and think it not night?

Hum, humm?

Chorus

Will the bluebird’s feather

be carried on the wind?

Or painted black the like the crow’s in the bitter end?

Romeo?

Bridge

Would you change me?

Shall you think me strange?

Verse

Bird’s eye view from the balcony

But she is no longer there.

Wherefore art thou fair flower?

Vanquished to air (whispered)

Chorus

A soliloquy for my lover:

To save his foolish pride.

Why does thou leave me so unsatisfied?

Verse

Romeo, Romeo.

Wherefore art thou Romeo?

Your misplaced passion is letting me go.
